Bulk Foods Rejuvenation

Our Bulk Foods Department will be undergoing renovation during the month of July. We are hoping to be done with the changes by Owner Appreciation Day on Saturday, July 19. You spoke... we listened... and to improve your Bulk Department we're:

  • creating a more open, inviting space
  • adding new fixtures and more workspace
  • making it easier to find your favorite items
  • working for fewer "out of stock" items

During Summer Owner Appreciation Day on July 19, we'll have a ribbon cutting ceremony with refreshments, free bulk foods, vendor sampling, one-day specials, and brand new department for you to enjoy.



Congratulations to our door prize winners from the General Ownership Meeting & Food Fair

Winners of the bikes provided by Honest Tea:
Annemarie Price won the child's bike.
Douglas Underwood won the adult bike.

Other door prize winners:
The Equal Exchange gift baskets were won by Norm Ninnaugh and Bob Lominska.
The fleece sweater was won by Emily Lyson.

Thanks again, to the wonderful local producers who were featured at our Food Fair: Lebanese Flower, Pieroguy's Pierogies, Treehouse Berry Farm, Yummy's Choice, and Good Natured Family Farms.

And thanks to all the Merc Owners and their families who came out and enjoyed a perfect evening for our General Ownership Meeting.

From fresh-picked veggies, to delicious steaks, to milk, eggs and bread, you'll find over 600 local items on the shelves of the Merc every day - and that number is increasing all the time. For example, in our refrigerated section you'll soon find local Mediterranean Market hummus and dips.

Look for our new local producer signs throughout The Merc. Right now, since it is the growing season, we are concentrating on our local produce growers.
But as the summer progresses, you'll be seeing more and more local producer signs throughout the store.



T-Shirt Design Contest 2008/2009
Get your imagination going and work up an entry for the official Merc T-Shirts for 2008/2009. Contest is open to all Merc owners and their families, and Merc employees, and their families.

Winner will receive a $50 Merc Gift Card and T-Shirts for all members of their immediate family. Entries must be received by August 1, 2008. Entry forms and complete rules available here.
